Gun Emplacement No.1
Situated on high ground above L’Eree, on Guernsey’s west coast, and spread over an area approximately 1km by 0.75 km lies the remains of Batterie Mirus. The largest guns to be emplaced on the Channel Islands with 4 x 30.5cm Naval Guns.
Most of the structures remain. All four of the gun emplacements together with adjoining accommodation are intact.
The guns were mounted in large emplacements with armoured steel turrets providing 360° of traverse. Behind the emplacement the massive underground bunker has shell and cordite stores, generator room, fuel and water storage tanks, accommodation for 72 men and the necessary toilet and washing facilities.
Once the site was made accessible and cleared of many years of debris etc, work started on limited restoration of certain area of the site.

Flak Tower
One of nine FL242 emplacements constructed to mount the 2cm flak providing the battery with anti-aircraft defence. The majority of these bunkers had an additional room below the emplacement for stores or ammunition, the crew accommodation being on the lower floor. This example retains much of its original features including timber panelling to the crew room walls.

One of three Type S448a ammunition storage bunkers constructed in the centre of the battery. Each had its own heating room, two rooms for shells, two rooms for cordite and separate smaller rooms for fuses and small arms.
