Gun Emplacement No.1

Batterie Scharnhorst consisted of 4 x 15cm K18 field guns in field emplacements. As time went on, the battery slowly developed with reinforced field order bunkers interspersed with smaller field positions. This emplacement retained its original corrugated iron cladding up until the battery was relocated to Jersey in September 1944, and has been faithfully reconstructed based on the evidence of what remained when it was excavated. Each emplacement has two ready ammunition rooms along with smaller machine gun Tobruks or observation positions around its circumference.

Gun Emplacement No.2

This emplacement benefitted from an upgrade, with the emplacement sides being strengthened with imported concrete panels. Each emplacement was also provided with an adjacent crew ready room and two reserve ammunition bunkers, one single, and one double. Construction of these bunkers was no different from other coastal artillery sites using arched reinforced Seigfried panels and granite sets for wall construction.
